The 2002 Golden Ticket Awards - Paramount's Kings Island
The Golden Ticket Awards are given to parks for a various of different reasons, all promoting amusement parks and everything that comes with that. Collected and released by Amusement Today, the awards presentations is usually held at a different park each year. In August of 2002, it was decided that Paramount's Kings Island would be host that year. I was invited as a member of ACE to attend. This video shows most of the presentations but not all of it. While not perfect, it does convey the energy felt that day, hopefully. MC'ed by Amusement Today's own Gary Slade. If you like what you see on this channel, please SUBSCRIBE!

Six Flags Over Georgia Tour - March 2003
Просмотров 54014 дней назад
During the 2003 Spring Filing coaster event, put on by Six Flags Over Georgia and the American Coaster Enthusiasts, a group of coaster fans was taken on a behind-the-scenes tour of a few of the coasters at the park. Special thanks to Rich Koppelman who invited me as one of the people in his group, allowing me to attend the tour. Coasters featured in this tour were Ninja, The Great American Scre...

This video highlights the small indoor SCAD (Suspended Catch Air Device) attraction at IAAPA 2002. In previous years, there was a much larger version of this attraction outside. This was the first time an indoor version was shown. Unfortunately, there was an incident on this attraction during the show. After being inspected, the attraction was re-opened. This video shows some off-ride footage of Top Thrill Dragster, the new-for-2003 strata coaster manufactured by Intamin. In 2024, Cedar Point opened Top Thrill 2, a reimagined version of the coaster manufactured by Zamperla. While this was recorded on two separate days in 2004 (May and late June), this video was released exactly twenty years to the day most of it was recorded. #cedarpoint #topth...
Steel Hawg - Indiana Beach - June 2009
Просмотров 432Месяц назад
This off-ride video highlights Steel Hawg, the compact prototype coaster, manufactured by S&S and opened at Indiana Beach in Monticello, Indiana in 2006. At one time, Steel Hawg had the steepest drop on any coaster in the world with a first drop taken at a 111-degree angle. Unfortunately, the sky was overcast on the day I recorded this video. This was recorded with a Sony HDR-HC1 and rendered i...
Raptor - Cedar Point - October 2005
Просмотров 9252 месяца назад
This short off-ride video was recorded in October on Cedar Point's closing day for the 2005 season. Raptor opened on May 7th, 1994 and is one of the few coasters responsible for my coaster "career" as it introduced me to the incredible engineering and ride quality of Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) coasters. The footage in this video was among the very first stuff I recorded with my Sony HDR-HC1 cam...

Diamondback Media Day - April 2009 - Kings Island

This video contains the brief footage I recorded during the media preview day for Diamondback, the new-for-2009 speed coaster, manufactured by B&M. I spent most of the early morning and late afternoon riding this incredible coaster. By the time I left the park, I ended up with sixty-six rides on it. This video was released on the same date it was recorded on, fifteen years later. Special thanks...

2024 watching 😀
Sky Screamer at Astroworld
Oh my gosh i wasn't around in 1990 but my dad went in the late 80s and early 90s he rode vortex and it took him 30 years to become an enthusiast 😅. He also always told me why flight commander was trash. Ill need to send this to him if he remembers anything! Thanks for sharing!
That was fantastic Sean. I appreciate you sharing some of this trip as it happens. It a roundabout way. It kind of remind of the 2005 Japanese series. Short but definitely sweet~ Rob/Boston
I had to fire up another stream at the park once the WiFi cut out on me. Not sure why but there are a lot more memories from 2005 compared to the 2019 trip, on this trip. Typing this from Mitsui Greenland.
Cheers!
Everything will be like this one day. The store down the road, the town hall, even the roof above my head, a day will come and it will not be there.
Perhaps there will be a day when the New Orleans area receives another park like Jazzland. Until then, we will just watch the remains of the park fall into existence.
Sean! Enjoyed exploring Miyajima, 🦌 the heaviness of Hiroshima too. But definitely want to get down to that Intamin woodie and explore Kyushu next time. I trust Marty on the review on that, maybe. I also went to the maid restaurant in Tokyo. 😅 Another Japanese experience. Enjoying following along and looking foward to your vlogs. 🤘
Many thanks, dude! We still have six days here and I am sure it will be filled with great times. I hope all is well, KI!
❤😊❤😊❤😊 nice😊🎉🎉🎉
Everytime we go, I still tell my kids about it when we walk by where it was
ПОДГОТОВКА ЛЮДИШЕК К ОТПРАВКЕ НА ПМЖ В АД !!!☝️
I'm so used to seeing Dragster tower over the skyline that this footage just looks wrong 😂
You need to tell me when you're going to go live
The cause of this problem can be attributed to the friction of the tracks gained during the cold weather. Additionally, chain lifts and motors may run in a reduced manner due to the thickening of oil and other solvents. Also the tracks can partially shrink due to the compression of most chemical molecules during the change in temperature. Older tracks have a higher risk of slowing down compared to newer tracks, and wood travels slower than metal. Provided there were no other people in the car is valid because there wasn't any time for the coaster's wheels and the track to warm up before. Having more passengers in the car would allow more force to be imposed on the tracks, especially if they leaned forward, causing the car to move faster. However that would be an unsafe idea.
Right before we got into the car, we were told we were the first passengers to take a ride in that car. They didn't even send it around to test. It wouldn't have made it back on its own so they just told us to ride and hope for the best. :)
@@SeanFlaharty Yep! Provided that there was no testing imposed on the car first they MAY have been partially responsible, but I wouldn't worry TOO much about it.
Did Diavlo open later?
It did. We were the only ones riding it for the first half hour. I rode it six times before going to another ride.
@@SeanFlaharty was there water cannons? Or did they remove them
They removed them. :(
Haven’t heard that it’s still good anymore sadly ;(. Never rode it but I love a good CCI
It's been years since I have last ridden this coaster. It was pretty smooth back in the day.
@@SeanFlaharty ye I heard it’s smooth but boring
@@coasternamegenerator5611 It's not as exciting as Cornball Express, in my opinion. It was one of CCI's first though so it has some historical importance but as far as the actual thrill of the ride, it proves you don't need a coaster to be bigger for it to be better.
@@SeanFlaharty yea comparing it to BD, Ghost Rider is much bigger but not as good so I do get it
Very happy that you’re having such a great time! Enjoy!! 🤘🏽
Thanks, Ted. We just got back to the hotel after having a few beers and "singing" metal songs at a karaoke bar. Lol.
yikes, and this was at the front seat and it still looked painful
It was a terrible ride. Iron Rattler is easily one of my favorites now.
This was the only ride my dad would ride with me. He was 70 at the time. It's one of my favorite memories, I come watch this ride when I miss him and I definitely miss this ride
Thank you so much for sharing. It warms my heart knowing that this video can help people remember good times.
What is your ID in Facebook?
I am not on any social media. I used to be on Facebook many years ago but closed my account after I was hacked. RUclips is the only thing I do online.
Thanks Sean
You are welcome.
It made son of beast look average
Cool footage the first hyper coaster at kings island to replace son of beast 😅
Favorite Sean quote: "...and I'm wrinkled and moist!" (GASM 30 hour marathon.)
Ha ha! That's awesome. I remember that from your video. I hope you are doing well, John.
Have a great time!
Thanks, Robert!
Dang it! Missed this cause my body needs sleep for some reason (& I'm in USA)
I hope to go live at least a few more times during the tour. I think we have like nine days left or something. It all depends on if I can find decent wi-fi. It's spotty here.
@@SeanFlaharty Have fun!
@@Calakapepe Thanks, dude! We are in Osaka and went to a karaoke bar, had a few drinks and ended up screaming metal songs. Fun accomplished.
Wish I was there. You'll have to take us one day
You would love it here. Just had a couple drinks and did some metal karaoke. Ha ha.
That was great Sean. Good to see all of you guys. Third time in Japan and the novelty has not even been been close to wearing off. I still have a soft spot for 2005. I would love to see a similar play by play on this trip. {smile} But I know how much work goes into it with editing, filming, etc... <> Stoked to hear about it all. Hope you all enjoy the remaining time there. Steel Dragon 2000 looks great. Thanks S~ Rob/Boston
Hey there, dude. Typing this after going to a karaoke bar in Osaka where I screamed some Killswitch Engage songs. Ha ha. Yep, there will be a new "Coasting In Japan" series soon. I am starting day 14 tomorrow morning. I can't believe I have been here for two weeks already.
Did you manage to restore all your old videos? Because they were looked like if they were filmed yesterday.
Thank you. I know a few tricks. :) But, yes. I play with the color a bit and render them in 60fps for a smoother playback.
It still blows my mind that a tacky, mundane ride like Superstar Limo co-existed with California Screamin' at some pont.
The ride was a huge mystery and confused me when I took my first ride.
Интересно,а памперсы выдают перед поездкой?
Why didn't anyone clap for Knoebels?! Tha'ts outlaw!
Indeed. Some parks got applause but most in attendance were from PKI, CP and Holiday World.
I’m still mad that they took it I’m sorry but they never should’ve taken it down because it was my favorite ride when I was younger I’m sorry
It was a huge loss for sure. I really enjoyed it when it dueled.
@@SeanFlaharty me too I loved fire and ice and a lot of people are mad about it also
Pour les enfants c est interdit vraiment c est dangereux 😮
The ability to move 70k of people a hour is impressive
Very cool, they're wasn't many people documenting this stuff back then.
It's strange as I have been documenting my life on video since the early 80's and thought everyone was doing that. I just stored and took care of my tapes just in case there was a way to mass share my footage.
Whoa! CP used to have some of the fastest moving lines in the world!
'They really did. It was much different "back in the day."
What an exciting time to be a part of the amusement industry. I wish I were old enough in 2002 to see it all. That was the golden era for parks adding legendary attractions. You could just sense the honor and pride those people took when they accepted their awards for their respective park. I am very lucky that I live close to many amazing parks like Holiday World, Kings Island, Kennywood, and Cedar Point.
“Please don’t lean on the gay rails… uh guard rails please.
I miss this coaster on the park skyline it was so dominant you know Sean
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤😮😮😮😮
This was the first big time coaster kings island got. It was so boring back in the day you pretty much had to go to cedar point.
It definitely was a coaster that Kings Island needed. It was such a shame that the track for all B&M coasters is created about a half hour from the park, yet they didn't have one of their coaters until 2009.
Believe me you did not miss much with the Superstar Limo ride.
It was definitely a head scratcher.
those ppl screaming are just like me on rides
Classic
Looks like a good time
I’ve ridden diamondback many many times, and I must say even after 15 years, it is still running strong!
It's one of my faves. I doubt I have time to ride it this year but if I do make it to the park, I hope to ride it.
Enjoy!!!
Man after that shallow climb up. It’s like the ride design was intended for toddlers
It was rough and tame. The park had another idea at one point that would have required the removal of the slow helix. Luckily they decided on RMC to make it into a steel coaster. It's incredible now.
@@SeanFlahartyyes the new Texas giant is totally awesome
@@SeanFlahartyyes the iron rattler is awesome
Looks fun !
It was one of my favorites for many years.
I’m so used to seeing the supports of iron dragon yellow and not white lol, probably because it was repainted yet haha
It was strange seeing the different color schemes over the years.
